The Spiritual Exercises With Active Table of Contents edition by Saint Ignatius of Loyola Religion Spirituality eBooks

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ignatius of Loyola was a Spanish knight from a Basque noble family, hermit, priest since 1537, and theologian, who founded the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and was its first Superior General. Ignatius emerged as a religious leader during the Counter-Reformation. Loyola's devotion to the Catholic Church was characterized by unquestioning obedience to the Catholic Church's authority and hierarchy.

First, in response to some of the other reviews, I want to say that this is not a do-it-yourself text. It is a literal translation of the Latin version of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises that is meant to be used by a person who has been trained to give them to another. This version contains lots of arcane and difficult language that requires lots of reinterpretation for our present context. If you want to experience the Exercises, find a spiritual director and tell him/her that you are interested in doing them. They will work with you for a while to assess the best approach to take with you. If you can't find a director (or don't want to) but still want to experience the Exercises, as a last resort I'd recommend the book Moment by Moment: A Retreat in Everyday Life by Carol Ann Smith , an adaptation of the Exercises for today.
As one who wanted a Kindle version of the Exercises to access "on the go," I was happy to see this very inexpensive one. Unfortunately, the text is not numbered in the standardized way that has been developed over the years. That makes it relatively difficult to reference and use on a routine basis.

The Spiritual Exercises With Active Table of Contents edition by Saint Ignatius of Loyola Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Was a good overview of the exercises but a bit out dated for sure. I like to reqd this historical prayer life information about our Church
A beautiful and wonderful book which helps me daily to spiritual renewal. I highly recommend it for all who seek peace in our troubled world.
I found this a very easy way to understand the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. If I lived during the time of Ignatius, I think his theology and mind CLICK.
It is a difficult read. Though a classic, I have a hard time dealing with prayers to Mary (or anyone else other than God).
Not at all helpful for my daily spiritual development. It is vague and seems more appropriate for someone considering holy orders rather than a lay person.
Odd to be asked to review this classic of Christian spirituality and the foundation of Jesuit spirituality. Here are St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises, a 30 day program for a silent retreat to explore the soul of the participant and to arrive at a new self-understanding and relationship with God, plus additional reflections on the prayerful life. The style is simple and direct, and the tone is always firm, even, encouraging and consoling. These may be particularly helpful when read with a spiritual director or in a person’s daily devotions.
First Rate Publishers is a BOOTLEG COMPANY. This is a poor, poor copy of this book, and it was printed on the day i ordered it. The cover was copied from the Tan Publishers version, and made into an unusable text with no page numbers, no table of contents, inferior typesetting... It really is kind of creepy. The exercises, on the other hand, are supposed to be phenomenal, and i can't wait to get my hands on the actual book. good luck!
